Anand Yaligar was introduced to pixetra when he won pixetra Gift Coupons and other prizes at the [click] photography contest at the recent Amaze college festival organized by IIPM Bangalore. Looking at his photos on his flickr and other websites we loved his style of creating interesting photographs of everyday objects. Like a fight of stairs perceived for mere geometric lines, criss-cross shadows on the floor or a fan hanging from a high stained-glass ceiling. His keen eye sees patterns and light-play which would normally go unnoticed. Dew on glass windows, lines on the faces of yakshagana performers, and tree branches scattering arterial into a moonlit sky.
Anand shares his story here:
I started a photographic journey around five months back taking photos of birds. I then decided that I should not restrict myself to birds and explored the world with the camera's eye. I generally shoot on weekends on trips with one or another of Bangalore's several photography groups (many of us hangout at flickr). If time permits we visit places surrounding Bangalore - places like Madikeri, Manchibille, etc. I like shooting people, landscapes, birds, nature, and sometimes, conceptual photos too. I love conveying messages through my photographs. I am using a Canon 30D with 18-55mm and 75-300mm lenses. I prefer handheld shooting so I never use a tripod. I usually shoot in RAW file format and use manual exposure mode. I know its good to shoot in early morning and evening lighting but I step out all times of the day to get shots - you never know when you'll get great shots!
My photography is not only a hobby but a way to meet and network with friends. I love photography because it feels me closer to this world. Besides this, I am also looking for freelance opportunities - especially magazine work.
